April 2, 2011 – Houck Anderson will participate in the Seafarers’ House 5k Run/Walk in Port Everglades, Florida. The firm will be supporting this event by sponsoring a team of its employees to raise funds and awareness for the programs at the Seafarers’ House. This will be the first time such an event has taken place inside of the Port. “Our firm is proud to be part of this Run and truly values the Seafarers’ House’s commitment to offering hospitality and comfort to those who work at sea,” said founding shareholder and CEO Mark Houck.
The Seafarers’ House is a charitable organization which offers services to the men and women who work aboard cargo and cruise ships and arrive at ports in the South Florida area. They provide low-cost international phones to reconnect with family across the globe, as well as, the opportunity to mail letters home, review their e-mail in their internet café, safely and reliably send funds home, read newspapers and books and rest in their lounges. Today, the Seafarers’ House has a 4,200 square foot facility and hosts over 100,000 crew visits each year.
