May 25, 2011 – Raúl J. Chacón Jr. Esq., a shareholder with Houck Anderson, P.A. will be a speaker at the upcoming 2011 Florida Liability Claims Conference scheduled for June 1-4 at Disney’s Contemporary Hotel in Orlando, FL. The conference is presented by the Florida Liability Claims Institute (FLCI) in cooperation with the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA).
Mr. Chacón’s presentation will take place on June 3rd on the topic “Experts – Retention, Preparation for Discovery & Conducting Expert Discovery”. He will offer insights on the skills necessary for deposing experts based on his many years and experience as a leading attorney in the practice areas of admiralty and maritime law, insurance defense, commercial litigation, product liability and premises liability.
“My presentation discusses what every claims adjuster, insurer and defense counsel should know to identify, retain, prepare for and depose experts,” said Chacón. He adds, “It includes an overview of when to retain your expert, what information is discoverable, an update on rule amendments, Frye and Daubert challenges, and perspectives from experts in medical and non-medical fields with sample deposition outlines.”
Mr. Chacon received his J.D. from the University of Miami and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1994. He is AV® rated by Martindale-Hubbell (highest rating possible) and specializes in the practice areas of Admiralty & Maritime, Products Liability (Practice Group Chair), Commercial Litigation (Practice Group Chair), Insurance Defense, Property and Casualty and Premises Liability. He is a member of several organizations including The Florida Bar Foundation and the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA), where he has served as a director since 2005, currently serves as its vice president and is a candidate for president.
