Our strength is in our people, and one of the strongest assets that Houck Anderson provides to its clients is our talented and dedicated attorneys and support staff.  In addition to outstanding academic credentials and a record of success in law, many of the firm's attorneys have extensive non-legal backgrounds in the maritime, aviation, construction, manufacturing and engineering industries, providing them with broad, practical perspectives.

As examples, the lawyers in our admiralty and maritime practice area have extensive seagoing experience including work as ship captains, deck officers, engineers and crew members aboard vessels of all types ranging from tankers to chartered pleasure craft. They have served as officers in the United States Coast Guard and U.S. Navy, and worked as diving instructors and fishermen. They teach the subjects they practice at one of the top law schools in the country.

The attorneys and paralegals that form our diverse, multi-national staff have a wide variety of valuable skills, including fluency in over a dozen languages. These skills have benefited clients in dealing with European shipyards, negotiations leading to the release of vessels detained by Central American Authorities, helping clients with commercial disputes in Asia and Africa, and working to identify and develop local counsel throughout  this hemisphere.
